Eco-tourism

This is another module included in Deshpande Fellowhip Training. Team of 24 members visited Honnemaradu in Westernghats, where we were  guided about eco-tourism by Mr. Swamy and   Mrs. Nimutu of Adventure Team. It was an 5 days tour with exciting, memorable experiences of water sports, paddling in the back water of Linganamakki dam built across Sharavathi river. Last two days were first time experience of trucking to the fort constructed during the period of Keladi Nayaka. Our concentration was more on leeches than looking around in the forest. We were running to save ourself from leeches. Visit to Rameshwara temple and listening to “Kindara Jogi” story was wonderful. This trip enlightened me the value of tourism. The another name for this tourism could be “minimal usage” tourism, because the materials we used including clothes in the whole trip were minimum in number.
